FAQ

Here are some answers to our most asked questions as well as documents related to our products:

Installing an uncaptured rod is difficult

It doesn't have to be! It comes down to technique and hand strength. The syringe method is easiest. Always wear safety glasses. Here is a quick video on how to install it:

What spring weight is best for my pistol?

This comes down to intended use and ammo type. Also, feel can be subjective in recoil mitigation and the lightest spring isn’t always the best choice. For those who are unsure we recommend our spring tuning kit which has 3 weights and allows you to dial in the recoil impulse for your gun and ammo.

Typically we recommend:

15lb: Range and Competition use only!

17lb: suited for Suppressed use and some carry (TEST!)

18lb: Close to stock and may be acceptable for duty use (TEST!)

OR check out our Guide Rod Selection Guide.

I ordered a 15lb spring and my return to battery feels week.

Yes, this reduction in a Walther is 20% reduction in force over the factory RSA. It will have 20% less force in returning to battery. This is exacerbated by fully loaded mags that have rounds dragging the slide. It is important not to ride the slide home. Lighter springs are not suggested for carry, self defense, or any type of duty use!

How often should I replace my springs?

This depends on the gun, type of ammo, purpose of pistol, etc. When you reduce the recoil spring force, it reduces the spring life as you are cycling it harder and faster. Springs do not last forever and are a consumable. They will not last as long as a factory unit as it’s designed for performance and much like racecar parts, they will degrade faster.

Bumpers fit 15 and 18rd tubes but 15rd will only work in compact frames and 18rd will only work in full size frames. Work with OEM magwell

Will the Long Stroke fit my Gun?

The long stroke rods are only for the PDP Steel Frame Match, Poly Match, and 4.5” steel frame guns. Your 4.5 or 5” may be compatible but it is unlikely. You can perform this test to confirm BEFORE ordering:

  • Remove striker
  • Remove plastic spacer from front of slide
  • Install slide and ensure breech face smoothly clears  the front of the ejector
  • If the slide collides/stops on ejector it is not compatible. Walther has many revisions. CHECK BEFORE ORDERING!

I Ordered the wrong parts, how do I do an exchange?

It happens! The easiest way to exchange is to purchase the correct parts, then send the old one back with the original packing slip (unused or damaged) with a note referencing the new order. Doing this ensures you get your new parts quickly and we will not assess a restock fee so long as the parts are in new, unused condition. We do not accept spring returns or any parts showing signs of use. They will be recycled and no credit will be given.
